David Ahrens was convicted by a Polk County Jury for Grand Theft, Attempted Burglary, Attempted Robbery and several other charges. Ahrens was traveling on I-4, near mile marker 38, when he crashed a stolen Jeep Wrangler. A few witnesses pulled over to help the defendant. Ahrens thanked one of the Good Samaritans by stealing their car and driving off. The defendant then entered a fenced in backyard area in an attempt to hide from law enforcement. Law enforcement was able to locate the defendant on a sidewalk near the victim’s home. Ahrens prior record contains 25 felonies and 25 misdemeanors. He is set to be sentenced on February 15th.
